In 2025, the Maritime College Alumni Association is committed to distributing $550,000 in scholarship awards, expanding eligibility to 2nd and 3rd Class Cadets in addition to 1st Class Cadets. Our previous record was $532,000—and by reaching this new goal, we can ease the financial burden and ensure more cadets have access to this critical learning experience. Since its founding in 1903, the MCAA has fostered lifelong connections among alumni, provided professional networking opportunities, and—most importantly—offers financial and career support to current students.
Most of the scholarship funds come from MCAA restricted funds and investment interest, forming the core of our $550,000 goal for 2025. Raising the final $20,000 through the Giving Day / 2025 SST Campaign will ensure we fully meet this commitment to our cadets.
Why Your Giving Matters:
For cadets pursuing a U.S. Coast Guard license, Summer Sea Term (SST) is more than a requirement—it’s a defining experience. Aboard a working vessel, cadets apply their classroom knowledge in real-world conditions, gaining invaluable hands-on training. However, SST comes with significant costs, creating financial challenges for many students, with in-state tuition, room and board estimated at $12,220 for 2025, your donation will make an impact!
